  5. Messias 2013 LBV Port Half Bottle Messias 2013 LBV Port Half Bottle New
Messias 2013 LBV Port Half Bottle

Regular Vintage port is aged in wood for 20 months or so before being transferred to bottles for further ageing, while LBV (Late Bottled Vintage), as the name suggests, is bottled later - between four and six years later.

This is a relatively long period to age and in this time the port matures and settles down so that when it's bottled, it's ready to drink. Also, you don't need to decant an LBV and can serve it by the glass for a couple of weeks after opening the bottle.

Messias LBV has delicious black fruit aromas on the nose with notes of intense blackberry at the front, in the mouth there's good concentration and firm tannins.

2013 LBV Port, Quinta do Noval
This wine is a remarkable example of the Noval style. Treated exactly like a Vintage Port with only noble grape varieties from the Quinta, trodden by foot and unfiltered. Its main difference is that it is aged for four, sometimes five years in wooden vats instead of the two years typical of Vintage Ports. Definitely an LBV with a difference, with fine structured tannins, great freshness and purity of fruit. It is delicious to drink today, but will age beautifully in its bottle. Learn More
