Domaine Lafond Lirac Roc-Epine
Domaine Lafond, an award winning producer, manually harvests and hand selects the grapes to ensure the highest quality and careful management of the vines. The grapes are vatted for an extended period to obtain soft tannins, then in order to soften the tannins, the wine is put in new barrels for 3 to 4 months.
Roc Epine red is a powerful and robust wine, it offers a complex nose of cinnamon, cooked fruits and morello cherries. While the palate expresses vanilla and peppers which persist until the final. It is a supple and rich wine with a very good length.
Great paired with charcuterie, red meats, game and cheeses.Learn More
Valpolicella Classico Ripasso, Lenotti Estate
The Lenotti ‘Le Crosare’ Valpolicella Ripasso is the result of the highest quality Corvina, Rondinella and Molinara grape varieties, coming from the classic area of Valpolicella north of Verona. The winemaking process has a brief “ripasso” (re-passing) on the grape skins of the Amarone which gives this red extra body and flavour.
It is a well-structured wine, intense ruby red colour with a bouquet that is fine and intense. Dry and savoury in the mouth it is full bodied and velvety. Drinking very well now although it has the potential to improve if cellared 4-5 years after harvest. Highly recommend by the Le Bon Vin team.Learn More
Mission Estate VS Pinot Noir
Mission's Estate has chosen their very best grapes grown in the Awatere Valley for their Vineyard Selection Pinot Noir. They were selected from a portion of the vineyard that was carefully managed with fruit thinning to encourage optimal ripeness and flavour development.
It shows good concentration of bright red cherry, forest floor and wild berry aromas, more fruit on the palate with a soft, rich mouthfeel. The wine has a fine structure and really fantastic fruit intensity, supple mouthfeel and a great finish. Drinking really well now but with potential to age well over the next 5-10 years.
"Garnet-red colour with some depth, lighter on the rime with some bricking. The nose is soft and ethereally full with a broad array of aromatic red berry fruits along with restrained notes of savoury dried herbs, elements of earth and red floral nuances." Raymond Chan
Berton Vineyards Bonsai Shiraz Cabernet
Berton use the grapes grown in their original Eden Valley vineyards to use in their flagship wines of which the Bonsai Shiraz Cabernet is one. So named, as the poor soil that is the success story behind this wine restricted growth to tiny rootling’s even after five years.
Open a bottle and you’ll find blackcurrant, plums and licorice on the nose and on the palate soft tannins and sweet toasty oak combine with ripe plum and black cherry.Learn More
