  3. Jawbox Classic Dry Gin Belfast Cut
    Rating:
    100% of 100

Celebrating The True Character of Belfast… There was a time when the front door was left unlocked. When the kitchen was the scullery. And in the tiny scullery stood the Belfast sink (aka the Jawbox, as a lot of craic was heard around it). And it still is with this terrific Gin named after the Belfast Sink.

Jawbox Gin is a classic dry gin that is produced at the Echlinville Distillery in Kircubbin, Northern Ireland. Hand crafted under the watchful eye of the Jawbox founder Gerry White. There are a wealth of botanicals used to flavour this superb gin: Coriander seed, orange and lemon peel, angelica root, cassia bark, almond, licquorice, orris root powder and black mountain heather.

Try Something different: Gin and Ginger Ale Jawbox are proud of what they have brought to the world, so they ask you to set aside the usual in favour of the unusual and raise a glass with Jawbox Gin and Ginger Ale. Thank you Belfast!

  4. Sir Robin of Locksley Distilled Artisan Gin
    Rating:
    100% of 100

This small batch, hand raised gin is a smooth and truly delicious affair. A loving blend of botanicals with more elegant infusions of elderflower, dandelion and pink grapefruit makes for a distinctively unique gin.

This Sheffield gin has up-front juniper with more delicate aromas of elderflower bubbling through. It is deliciously smooth and round on the palate with warm cassia notes soothed with dandelion. Pink grapefruit adds an underlying sweetness and lingering citrus finish.

Garnish is a personal choice and very subjective, but the distillery recommends it on its own or with pink grapefruit peel for an extra citrus blast.

  6. Pink Gin, English Drinks Company

Distilled in exactly the same way as The English Drinks Co. award-winning Cucumber Gin, Pink Gin follows their ideals of only producing products that look and taste excellent. Like the Cucumber Gin, the finish is very smooth and rounded but uses Cinchona Bark for the slightly aromatic taste and pomegranate for its delicate shade. The result is a stunning gin that is very smooth on the palate.

It also has a personal connection to the owner of the English Drinks Co. as pink gin is thought to have been made fashionable by the Royal Navy back in the 1800’s, with the addition of Angostura bitters as an aid to sea sickness. His father was a naval officer so it was fitting to resurrect such an old tradition but with a modern twist.

  8. Friday Chic Gin
    Rating:
    80% of 100
Friday Chic gin is produced by Caves da Montanha, a family business with over seven decades of history and extensive experience in the distillation of spirits. Based in the Portuguese wine producing region, Bairrada, which has no doubt influenced the inclusion of vine leaf in the botanicals. Smooth on the palate, the Friday Chic is composed of five botanicals: juniper, cardamom, rose petals, orange blossom and vine leaf. It is floral and fruity with citrus notes of orange blossom and tropical fruit nuances, think passion fruit, mango and papaya. The vine leaf gives Friday an aromatic aftertaste, typical of the Baga grape, which grows in the Bairrada region. It has a final soft and smooth mouth, influenced by rose petals. Particular attention has been given to the design of the bottle which is produced in Spain, painted in Poland and the lid, in black and white wood and silk-screened laser, comes from Italy.

  9. The Echlinville Irish Pot Still Gin
    Rating:
    100% of 100

From the Lecale Peninsula in Northern Ireland comes the country’s first premium single-estate pot still gin. Echlinville Distillery grow the barley used for the base spirit on the estate and it's malted on a farm close by. To give it a unique flavour they've chosen local botanicals, such as gorse bush petals and Strangford Lough seaweed. The result is a gin with the essence of the land and sea.

If you like a gin cocktail then try it with elderflower tonic, a slice of lemon and a sprig of mint, as Echlinville suggest, or just sip it neat. There’s a hint of the homegrown barley on the nose along with fresh floral and citrus notes. While in the mouth the gin has anise and lavender flavours that make way for juniper and coriander notes. Sweetness carries on throughout, with a malt character and creamy mouth-feel seldom found in modern gins.
