Grande Passolo Rosso Salento, Rocca Estate, 2016
This Grande Passolo is made from carefully chosen Negroamaro and Primivito grapes, softly pressed and refined in big oak casks. The Grande Passolo is becoming an expression of highest quality and top of its range from Rocca Estates Apulian production. It is an intense ruby red in colour and exhales a wide bouquet of ripe red fruit with remarkable scents of raspberries, blackberries, cherries, vanilla and a pleasant unobtrusive hint of oak.
It has good body and texture, harmoniously round and balanced thanks to its gentle tannins. The nose has wonderful aromatic intensity and pairs perfectly with Mediterranean savoury dishes, roasted red meat and seasoned cheeses.

At the end of XIX century, Francesco Rocca started his historical business by selling loose wine. In 1936 his son Angelo enhanced the wine production and built a cellar in Nardò, Apulia. In the 1960's the first bottling line was bought and thus started the distribution of products under the Rocca brand. Today, Ernesto Rocca (the founder's grandson) shares responsibility with his sons Paolo, Marco, Luca and Matteo who help run the family business, a business which also includes a construction company and a leading trot horse stud farm.
