Passolo Salento Rosso, Rocca, 2017
Produced from lightly "over-ripened" grapes this is has a rich and complex bouquet featuring cherry, black currants and liquorice on the nose. The concentration is well balanced with very soft tannins and a full, round taste ending in a long finish. The name "Passolo" comes from the Italian word "Passola" which is what some producers call over-ripened grapes.

At the end of XIX century, Francesco Rocca started his historical business by selling loose wine. In 1936 his son Angelo enhanced the wine production and built a cellar in Nardò, Apulia. In the 1960's the first bottling line was bought and thus started the distribution of products under the Rocca brand. Today, Ernesto Rocca (the founder's grandson) shares responsibility with his sons Paolo, Marco, Luca and Matteo who help run the family business, a business which also includes a construction company and a leading trot horse stud farm.
