At the end of XIX century, Francesco Rocca started his historical business by selling loose wine. In 1936 his son Angelo enhanced the wine production and built a cellar in Nardò, Apulia. In the 1960's the first bottling line was bought and thus started the distribution of products under the Rocca brand. Today, Ernesto Rocca (the founder's grandson) shares responsibility with his sons Paolo, Marco, Luca and Matteo who help run the family business, a business which also includes a construction company and a leading trot horse stud farm.
Located in the central eastern part of Italy about 120 kilometres northeast of Rome, the unique geographical characteristics of the Abruzzo wine region make it an ideal location for growing vines. Sandwiched between the Adriatic Sea on the east and the Apennines and Maiella mountain ranges on the west, the glorious nature of the countryside is matched only by the quality of the wines. The Abruzzo wine region is home to the Montepulciano grape, and yields an array of full bodied, great value wines.
