Mission Estate Gimblett Gravels Reserve Syrah, 2016
The wine has a black pepper nose and also shows small fruit aromas such as dark berries with spicy undertones. The palate is medium-bodied with fine soft tannins. The wine has good finesse in aroma and structure from the careful oak maturation in French oak.

Mission Estate VS Pinot Noir, 2016
Mission's Estate has chosen their very best grapes grown in the Awatere Valley for their Vineyard Selection Pinot Noir. They were selected from a portion of the vineyard that was carefully managed with fruit thinning to encourage optimal ripeness and flavour development.
It shows good concentration of bright red cherry, forest floor and wild berry aromas, more fruit on the palate with a soft, rich mouthfeel. The wine has a fine structure and really fantastic fruit intensity, supple mouthfeel and a great finish. Drinking really well now but with potential to age well over the next 5-10 years.

The Mission Estate story begins with a group of French Missionaries who sailed to New Zealand with little more than their faith and a few vines. The first record of a commercial sale dates back to 1870 when a parcel of mostly dry reds was sold. The Cellar Master at this time was Brother Cyprian Huchet, the son of a French vigneron from the Loire. Having grown up amongst the vineyards and wine cellars in France, Cyprian Huchet’s wine knowledge became extremely sophisticated and he bought this wealth of knowledge to Mission Estate.
Mission Huchet Syrah is a tribute to Cyprian Huchet and Mission’s 160 year heritage. Crafted with devotion, combining leading edge technologies and Old World techniques, Huchet is a bold wine of heart & depth with pure dark berry aromas along with some spice components. The palate is full-bodied with fine soft tannins and an array of complex aromas. These fine tannins provide an amazing texture that is velvety and mouth filling and which frame a depth of rich complex aromas which persist long on the finish. If you can resist opening this wine for 10-20 years, you will be rewarded with a wine that is even more silky and fine.
