  • Passolo Salento Rosso, Rocca

Produced from lightly "over-ripened" grapes this is has a rich and complex bouquet featuring cherry, black currants and liquorice on the nose. The concentration is well balanced with very soft tannins and a full, round taste ending in a long finish. The name "Passolo" comes from the Italian word "Passola" which is what some producers call over-ripened grapes.

  • Berton Vineyards The Black Shiraz Metal Label

    2 Review(s)

Possibly Berton Vineyards most popular wine. Full of spicy, yet soft blackcurrant fruit and still holding it's own at 14% alcohol, the wine is actually very approachable. The winemakers source the darkest and most flavoursome Shiraz grapes from premium areas across South Eastern Australia and make a wine that balances fruit and alcohol, but also looks great and is a reasonable price.

Strong, purple black and intense (hence the name) yet surprisingly soft and easy drinking for such a high alcohol wine – just how Aussie Shiraz should be!

  • Nature Reserve Shiraz Grenache, Cape Wine Company

    1 Review(s)

A powerful, Fairtrade red from the beautiful vineyards of the Western Cape of South Africa. Workers on these wine farms benefit from a partnership with Fairtrade, set on empowering local communities through striving for equality and fairness within the local wine industry. Also, some of the proceeds of this wine goes towards conservation.

Red fruits and violets on the nose are complemented by a peppery spice that follows through to plum fruit on the palate with a rich mouth-feel. Aged for 12 months in American and French oak barrels. Pairs well with red meats such as lamb and beef and also dishes with a tomato based sauce.

  • Berton Vineyards Reserve Barossa Shiraz

    1 Review(s)

Barossa Shiraz is the benchmark for Australian red wines with the most famous of them, Penfolds Grange, using the large proportions of the variety from this area.

The Berton Reserve Shiraz is the darkest red but with a youthful and vibrant garnet hue. The aromas are powerful and complex with a wealth of fruit ranging from ripe black cherries and blackberries with hints of eucalyptus and spice. The rich and full palate displays soft flavours of plums, mulberry and hints of vanilla and blackberry, underpinned by vanillin oak and defined by exciting spicy tannins.

A fragrant bouquet of creamy Christmas cake leads into a multi-faceted palate of black fruit, prune, spice and a savoury undercurrent with affably dry, chalky notes. Bursting with quality. Decanter Best Value Red Rhone Varietals (2015 vintage)

  • Berton Vineyards Reserve Coonawarra Cabernet Sauvignon

Coonawarra is renowned for producing world class red wines especially Cabernet Sauvignon which is why Berton selected a parcel of grapes from this region for their best Cabernet. The combination of warm days with off-shore breezes, rich red loam over well-draining limestone gives the foundation for Coonawarra’s justified reputation.

If you enjoy rich, concentrated wines with blackberry, cassis and light toasty oak notes that combine to give a long persistent finish then this is the wine for you.

  • Valpolicella Classico Ripasso, Lenotti Estate

    1 Review(s)
The Lenotti ‘Le Crosare’ Valpolicella Ripasso is the result of the highest quality Corvina, Rondinella and Molinara grape varieties, coming from the classic area of Valpolicella north of Verona. The winemaking process has a brief “ripasso” (re-passing) on the grape skins of the Amarone which gives this red extra body and flavour.

It is a well-structured wine, intense ruby red colour with a bouquet that is fine and intense. Dry and savoury in the mouth it is full bodied and velvety. Drinking very well now although it has the potential to improve if cellared 4-5 years after harvest. Highly recommend by the Le Bon Vin team. Learn More
