Alain Brumont is the king of the Tannat grape. A beautiful vintage from this remarkable Chateau. Big, intense and complex nose ending with hints of fruit jam, spices and even cocoa! Thick and fruity in the mouth with well developed tannins and a very long finish. His Chateau Montus and Bouscasse are wines which are compared to the top 1st Growths at blind tastings. Learn More

  • Margaux, Chateau Durfort Vivens 2ieme Cru Classe

Château Durfort-Vivens is another vineyard owned by the prolific Lurton family, who have initiated a mini-renaissance since Gonzague Lurton took over at the helm. This 2ème Cru Classé Margaux property uses a greater proportion of Cabernet Sauvignon in the final blend – the highest percentage of any wine in the southern Médoc. This gives their wine classic blackcurrant and cassis characteristics with great structure.

The 2012 is intense and complex on the nose with cherry, redcurrants and a hint of spices. As the classification suggests, this wine has all the elegance and finesse you can expect of one of the greatest wines of Margaux, with a silky texture, charming tannins and a wonderful mineral freshness.

"Beautifully soft tannins for a three year old Margaux, showing juicy cassis fruits and touches of blackberry leaf, with liquorice and gentle spicing. The tannins close in on the finish, showing that in fact this has a long life ahead of it." Drink 2022-2036 (2014 vintage) Decanter Magazine 2017 Bordeaux Guide

Expressive bouquet with fresh red berry fruits as well as firm cherries which are mirrored on the palate. As you would expect this is a concentrated wine with a beautiful balance between acidity and round tannins. Good freshness. Already a great pleasure yet will cellar well.

  • Domaine Courbis Cornas La Sabarotte

Inky purple black colour. Nice smoky meatiness to the nose, which is rich and spicy. The palate is rich and full, displaying chunky, spicy, tannic fruit. Quite a big wine.

"Takes a ripe, modern approach at first, with roasted fig, cruched plum and raspberry notes leading the way, but also lots of roasted earth, and tobacco notes tugging from underneath to keep this honest. A piercing chalky streak emerges on the finish, providing added length and range. Very impressive." Wine Spectator
