  • Berton Vineyards The Black Shiraz Metal Label

    2 Review(s)

Possibly Berton Vineyards most popular wine. Full of spicy, yet soft blackcurrant fruit and still holding it's own at 14% alcohol, the wine is actually very approachable. The winemakers source the darkest and most flavoursome Shiraz grapes from premium areas across South Eastern Australia and make a wine that balances fruit and alcohol, but also looks great and is a reasonable price.

Strong, purple black and intense (hence the name) yet surprisingly soft and easy drinking for such a high alcohol wine – just how Aussie Shiraz should be!

  • Berton Vineyards Reserve Barossa Shiraz

    1 Review(s)

Barossa Shiraz is the benchmark for Australian red wines with the most famous of them, Penfolds Grange, using the large proportions of the variety from this area.

The Berton Reserve Shiraz is the darkest red but with a youthful and vibrant garnet hue. The aromas are powerful and complex with a wealth of fruit ranging from ripe black cherries and blackberries with hints of eucalyptus and spice. The rich and full palate displays soft flavours of plums, mulberry and hints of vanilla and blackberry, underpinned by vanillin oak and defined by exciting spicy tannins.

A fragrant bouquet of creamy Christmas cake leads into a multi-faceted palate of black fruit, prune, spice and a savoury undercurrent with affably dry, chalky notes. Bursting with quality. Decanter Best Value Red Rhone Varietals (2015 vintage)

  • Berton Vineyards Reserve Coonawarra Cabernet Sauvignon

Coonawarra is renowned for producing world class red wines especially Cabernet Sauvignon which is why Berton selected a parcel of grapes from this region for their best Cabernet. The combination of warm days with off-shore breezes, rich red loam over well-draining limestone gives the foundation for Coonawarra’s justified reputation.

If you enjoy rich, concentrated wines with blackberry, cassis and light toasty oak notes that combine to give a long persistent finish then this is the wine for you.

**Look out for the 2014 vintage that came in a number one with a score of 96 in Decanter Magazine Top 35 New World Cabernets. (March 2017)**

"Really approachable, excellent, reaching a real crescendo. Pure ripe fruit, menthol, cassis and coffee, tannins, all in perfect balance." The Wine Merchant Top 100 (2014 vintage)

  • Berton Vineyards High Eden Cabernet Sauvignon

From the relatively newly registered sub-region (High Eden) in the Eden Valley, Barossa, comes this stunning Cabernet from Berton Vineyards. This unspoilt area has a cool climate, high winds, low growing-season rainfall and relatively poor soils, not terribly appealing to us but perfect for the vines. The resulting grape harvest is low yield, further intensifying the fruit. The palate is intense and complex with ripe blackberry and cherry. Fine velvet tannins marry with vanillin coffee oak to create complexity and depth that persists to a long and flavoursome finish. Learn More
  • Berton Vineyards Bonsai Shiraz Cabernet

Berton use the grapes grown in their original Eden Valley vineyards to use in their flagship wines of which the Bonsai Shiraz Cabernet is one. So named, as the poor soil that is the success story behind this wine restricted growth to tiny rootling’s even after five years.

Open a bottle and you’ll find blackcurrant, plums and licorice on the nose and on the palate soft tannins and sweet toasty oak combine with ripe plum and black cherry.
