  • Haut-Bages Liberal, Pauillac

  • Margaux, Chateau Durfort Vivens 2ieme Cru Classe

Château Durfort-Vivens is another vineyard owned by the prolific Lurton family, who have initiated a mini-renaissance since Gonzague Lurton took over at the helm. This 2ème Cru Classé Margaux property uses a greater proportion of Cabernet Sauvignon in the final blend – the highest percentage of any wine in the southern Médoc. This gives their wine classic blackcurrant and cassis characteristics with great structure.

The 2012 is intense and complex on the nose with cherry, redcurrants and a hint of spices. As the classification suggests, this wine has all the elegance and finesse you can expect of one of the greatest wines of Margaux, with a silky texture, charming tannins and a wonderful mineral freshness.

"Beautifully soft tannins for a three year old Margaux, showing juicy cassis fruits and touches of blackberry leaf, with liquorice and gentle spicing. The tannins close in on the finish, showing that in fact this has a long life ahead of it." Drink 2022-2036 (2014 vintage) Decanter Magazine 2017 Bordeaux Guide
