Echlinville Distillery

Echlinville Distillery

Established in 2012, Echlinville Distillery was the dream of local man, Shane Braniff, and in 2013 it became Northern Ireland's first licenced distillery in over 125 years. Since then, his hard work has paid off as the distillery and brands are now firmly established in the whiskey industry, winning gold at the World Whiskey Awards and the Irish Whiskey Awards.

The new ultra-modern state of the art distillery, set in the magnificent grounds of the Echlinville Estate on the picturesque Ards peninsula, has rich soil, saline air and a temperate climate that contributes to producing the finest Irish Malt and Pot Still whiskeys.

Unusually the barley, used for each base spirit, is grown in the estate’s surrounding fields and floor malted in house (most other distilleries buy in their already-malted barley).

There are four brands produced by the distillery: the historic Dunville’s, the extremely popular Jawbox Gin, the self-titled Echlinville Gin and the modern and quirky FECKiN range - the brainchild of the founder Shane Braniff. Read more about these brands here.

  • The Echlinville Irish Pot Still Gin Miniature 50ml

A miniature glass bottle of the superb Echlinville Gin from the Lecale Peninsula in Northern Ireland. Echlinville Distillery grow the barley used for the base spirit on the estate and it's malted on a farm close by. To give it a unique flavour they've chosen local botanicals, such as gorse bush petals and Strangford Lough seaweed. The result is a gin with the essence of the land and sea. If you prefer a gin cocktail then try it with elderflower tonic, a slice of lemon and a sprig of mint, as Echlinville suggest, or just sip it neat. There’s a hint of the homegrown barley on the nose along with fresh floral and citrus notes. While in the mouth the gin has anise and lavender flavours that make way for juniper and coriander notes. Sweetness carries on throughout, with a malt character and creamy mouth-feel seldom found in modern gins. Learn More

  • Feckin Irish Whiskey

    1 Review(s)

Feckin Irish Whiskey is the brainchild of entrepreneur, Shane Braniff, who hails from Portaferry, Co. Down, and whose family and ancestors have been involved in the drinks trade for decades. Shane’s passion for adventure and his constant quest to innovate have led him to conceive, develop and launch the most unique whiskey to ever hit the market.

Perfectly balanced, this playful spirit has its own unique character and delivers a silky smooth, honeyed finish with gentle malty notes. It's won a number of prestigious whiskey-tasting accolades, and deservedly so.

This blend of the highest quality Irish whiskeys has newspaper style labelling with quirky stories on both the front and back of the tall rectangular shaped bottle. Eye catching and unconventional and totally encapsulating the 'craic'. The name is the only non serious part of this super smooth Irish whiskey that can be enjoyed as it comes, on the rocks or with a mixer.

  • Jawbox Classic Dry Gin Belfast Cut

    1 Review(s)

Celebrating The True Character of Belfast… There was a time when the front door was left unlocked. When the kitchen was the scullery. And in the tiny scullery stood the Belfast sink (aka the Jawbox, as a lot of craic was heard around it). And it still is with this terrific Gin named after the Belfast Sink.

Jawbox Gin is a classic dry gin that is produced at the Echlinville Distillery in Kircubbin, Northern Ireland. Hand crafted under the watchful eye of the Jawbox founder Gerry White. There are a wealth of botanicals used to flavour this superb gin: Coriander seed, orange and lemon peel, angelica root, cassia bark, almond, licquorice, orris root powder and black mountain heather.

Try Something different: Gin and Ginger Ale Jawbox are proud of what they have brought to the world, so they ask you to set aside the usual in favour of the unusual and raise a glass with Jawbox Gin and Ginger Ale. Thank you Belfast!

  • Dunvilles Three Crowns Irish Whiskey

Until recently the only place you could find a bottle of Three Crowns was at auction. Now, Echlinville distillery has revived this great whiskey to bring its flavour to a new generation. The original "Three Crowns" was introduced way back in 1830's and lasted around 100 years before being discontinued. Many bottles are still in circulation and the original style of the whiskey was similar to Dunville's "VR" with the "Three Crowns" using more sherry casks for the maturation.

It's a blended whiskey made up with 4 year old grain, 10 year old malt and 15 year old malt finished in Oloroso casks. This heavenly selection makes an eminently drinkable dram with a sweet and smooth palate and a soft, lingering finish.

  • Dunvilles Peated Three Crowns Irish Whiskey

The owner of  Echlinville Distillery, Shane Braniff, had a dream that he would bring Dunville's whiskey back to the world, 80 years after the last Dunville's whiskey was distilled, and he has. Not only the award winning Dunville's PX but also the Dunville's Three Crowns and now this, peated to perfection!

Find aromas of light honey and mocha with a little light smoke drifting over. The palate is long and slightly fruity with over-ripe gooseberries, while mocha and smoke make their quiet pleas for attention on the finish. Think butterscotch, subdued smoke, milk chocolate, stewed pear, earthy, vanilla, cinnamon and dried apricots.

“Even people purporting not to like peated whiskey will have a problem finding fault with this. This is a rare treat of an Irish.” Jim Murray’s Whisky Bible 2018
