Chateau Clarisse, Saint Emilion
Situated on the famous Saint Emilion Plateau, Chateau Clarisse benefits from the best land in the area with huge development potential. The vineyard which is composed of Merlot and Cabernet Franc is meticulously cared for by Olivia and Didier Le Calvez and currently in conversion to organic.
Olivia says, “Since 2010, we have been working with the genius, Stéphane Derenoncourt, helping with the vine-growing and the vinification. we follow his method which consists of listening to the ground, bringing the grape to maturity, by interfering as little as possible between the ground, the gathering and the wine. His golden rule is that a wine must express the subtlety of its land, with freshness and harmony. In this way, the wines which can be drunk immediately, while still staying good, are born.”
Chateau Clarisse 2014 is a blend of 80% Merlot and 20% Cabernet Franc matured in one-third new oak. It has a pleasing blackcurrant pastille and iodine-scented nose that is nicely defined and pure. The palate is medium-bodied, soft in the mouth, fine acidity and a lightly spiced, weighty finish. - Wine Advocate - Parker
