Disznoko Tokaji Aszu 5 Puttonyos, 2008
Made in Hungary from Furmint grapes that have been allowed to shrivel on the vines until they are no more than raisins, it is then aged underground in casks, developing honeyed apple and spice notes while retaining rapier acidity.
Now this wine is over 10 years old, the wine has even greater aromatic complexity filled with dried fruits, spicy and honey notes. A beautiful balance between vivacious acidity and sweetness. The Disznoko Tokaji Aszu 5 puttonyos tastes fresh, long and is always superbly complex and focused. Ideal served with spicy dishes, rich pate, blue cheese or simply as an aperitif.
"A great vintage for Tokaji with a wonderful Indian summer resulting in a perfect Aszú crop. Just lovely on the nose, showing apricot, cinnamon and exotic fruit with just a hint of marzipan. To taste, it is rich and silky but also incredibly pure and vivid, with amazingly vibrant acidity lifting the orange and dried apricot fruit notes. Lingering and refined." Drink 2016-2030.
