Cortese Sacco, Piemonte, 2018
Cortese is best known for producing the popular Gavi wines from Piemonte - a crisp, lime-scented white that has long been considered to be the finest white wines of Italy. It has been grown in Piemonte for hundreds of years and its moderate acidity, fine floral and citrus character lends itself well to the seafood dishes from the nearby coast.

Piemonte
The Piedmont (or Piemonte) wine region is Italy’s largest – the thick fogs of the region known as nebbia, giving rise to Piedmont’s signature grape variety, Nebbiolo. Found in the famous Barolo and Barbaresco wines, the difficult grape produces some truly spectacular wines when handled correctly. Piedmont is more than a one trick pony though, and other red grapes fare particularly well in the region, notably Barbera and Dolcetto. Cortese is the main white grape of the region and goes into the wonderfully floral and finessed Gavi wines.
