Biere La Divine 33cl
La Divine is a beer that was created by Silly upon request. A beer distributor from Battice, in Liege, had found an old local recipe. He asked Brasserie de Silly to produce a beer from it, back in the early nineties. Silly promptly obliged.
La Divine is a very strong amber triple, one that's smooth and easy to drink. Accessible for most beer drinkers and yet complex enough in taste and flavours to please the experts. The name ‘La Divine’ is said to refer to the divine qualities of the brew - and maybe to the ‘divine chance’ to have found that original recipe.
On the nose, there are aromas of barley and wine and sweet candy-sugar tones, with plenty of fruitiness. The taste is slightly sweet and fruity, with just a touch of caramel. A velvety-smooth beer with a rich mouth-feel, hoppy notes and on the finish, a subtle bitterness with smoky impressions.

Brasserie de Silly
One of the benefits of being a farm worker in Belgium was that you could drink beer on the job, although this was mainly because there was no clean drinking water. Brasserie de Silly is the product of this and thus came about so the farm could brew seasonal beers for their field workers.
Now six generations later, and still family owned, Brasserie de Silly has expanded into all traditional Belgian beer styles with a few surprises thrown in. Look out for the grapefruit enhanced Pink Killer and Burgundy barrel-aged Scotch.
