Biere Double Enghien Brune 33cl
In 1975 Brasserie de Silly took over the Tennstedt-DeCroes brewery in nearby Enghien and their range was significantly broadened by this. Double Enghien, a beer that enjoyed some local popularity at the time, was added.
At 8.0% ABV the brune is reasonably high in alcohol yet this is barely noticeable due to the abundance of flavour. Excellent malt aromas are lifted on a breeze of alcohol with a slight hint of coconut and caramel. Thick and chewy in the mouth with malty caramel, boiled sweets and malt whisky notes. A long, dry and slightly bitter finish completes this supremely smooth and drinkable amber coloured ale.

Brasserie de Silly
One of the benefits of being a farm worker in Belgium was that you could drink beer on the job, although this was mainly because there was no clean drinking water. Brasserie de Silly is the product of this and thus came about so the farm could brew seasonal beers for their field workers.
Now six generations later, and still family owned, Brasserie de Silly has expanded into all traditional Belgian beer styles with a few surprises thrown in. Look out for the grapefruit enhanced Pink Killer and Burgundy barrel-aged Scotch.
