Biere Double Enghien Blonde 33cl
The original Double Enghien that was brewed by Tennstedt-Decroes, in Enghien, was an amber saison. When Brasserie de Silly bought the brewery, they changed it into a straight blond beer, as they already had a saison (farmhouse beer) – the Saison de Silly. Several variants of the Double have since been introduced.
The top-fermented, regional style beer has spicy and hoppy aromas that strike first with a shrug of acidity on the tongue and a nice dry bitter aftertaste. It’s a well-balanced blonde beer, in which no ingredient is overpowering. Thirst quenching and delicious.
Brasserie de Silly
One of the benefits of being a farm worker in Belgium was that you could drink beer on the job, although this was mainly because there was no clean drinking water. Brasserie de Silly is the product of this and thus came about so the farm could brew seasonal beers for their field workers.
Now six generations later, and still family owned, Brasserie de Silly has expanded into all traditional Belgian beer styles with a few surprises thrown in. Look out for the grapefruit enhanced Pink Killer and Burgundy barrel-aged Scotch.
