Nero d'Avola Terre Siciliane, Messer del Fauno, 2021
Nero d’Avola is the most important red wine grape in Sicily and is one of Italy’s most important indigenous varieties. It is named after Avola in the far south of Sicily and its wines are compared to New World Shiraz, with sweet tannins and plum or peppery flavours.
Messer Del Fauno Nero D'Avola is a delicously tempting dark and dense ruby red colour which follows through to aromas of ripe blackberry, blueberry and notes of liquorice. It is medium bodied with a rich and balanced palate. In the mouth it’s soft and smooth, with flavours of blackberry, blueberry, liquorice, hints of black coffee, with healthy and good balanced acidity. Nero D'Avola expresses a rustic elegance and structure that is not often enough associated with wines from this region.
