Domaine Frey-Sohler
The Frey-Sohler estate has evolved through several generations, all intimately linked with the local village of Scherwiller and the wines of Alsace. Currently occupying 29 hectares, the estate is run by Damien and Nicolas SOHLER. It is included within the “Scherwiller” Appellation Communale, and runs across the rocky slopes of the Rittersberg, at the foot of the imposing Château de l’Ortenbourg, which looks down upon these magnificent vineyards.

Alsace
The Alsace wine region is situated in northeastern France on the Rhine river and borders Germany on the east. The geography of the Alsace wine region is defined by the Vosges mountains in the west and the Rhine river in the east. The Alsace vineyards are dotted along a narrow strip, running in a generally north-south pattern, on the lower eastern slopes of the Vosges, at altitudes of 574 ft. to 1,377 ft. Alsace wines are produced under three different Appellations d'Origine Contrôlées (AOCs): Alsace AOC for white, rosé and red wines, Alsace Grand Cru AOC for white wines from certain classified vineyards and Crémant d'Alsace AOC for sparkling wines. The Alsace wine region is the only French wine region allowed to label its wines based on varietal.
