The winemaker chose only the best Primitivo (Zinfandel) grapes from old vines in Apulia, the heel of Italy. Ageing in large oak barrels added vanilla notes to the cherry and fresh plum fruit aromas. A great food wine that is round and full with gentle tannins and a jammy finish. Pairs well with pasta bolognese, pizza, braised and grilled meat, game, medium strength cheese and, surprisingly, chocolate cake!

Angelo Rocca
At the end of XIX century, Francesco Rocca started his historical business by selling loose wine. In 1936 his son Angelo enhanced the wine production and built a cellar in Nardò, Apulia. In the 1960's the first bottling line was bought and thus started the distribution of products under the Rocca brand. Today, Ernesto Rocca (the founder's grandson) shares responsibility with his sons Paolo, Marco, Luca and Matteo who help run the family business, a business which also includes a construction company and a leading trot horse stud farm.

Puglia
Southern Italy is truly the land of vines, and nowhere more so than the Salento plains in the Puglia wine region. Tucked in the heel of Italy’s boot, so to speak, the regions’ naturally warm climate is somewhat cooled by the sea winds blowing in from the Adriatic and Ionian seas, creating the ideal climate for producing hearty, satisfying reds. Sample the laid back South Italian lifestyle with a wine from one Italy’s most important wine producing regions, and the standard bearer for the south’s quality wines. The Primitivo and Negroamaro grapes fare particularly well here, producing wines that are at once dark and slightly bitter, but still supple and aromatic.
