Domaine Lafond Lirac Roc-Epine
Domaine Lafond, an award winning producer, manually harvests and hand selects the grapes to ensure the highest quality and careful management of the vines. The grapes are vatted for an extended period to obtain soft tannins, then in order to soften the tannins, the wine is put in new barrels for 3 to 4 months.
Roc Epine red is a powerful and robust wine, it offers a complex nose of cinnamon, cooked fruits and morello cherries. While the palate expresses vanilla and peppers which persist until the final. It is a supple and rich wine with a very good length.
Great paired with charcuterie, red meats, game and cheeses.
Domaine Lafond
The Lafond family have been involved in wine growing since 1780. Valery Taulier, built the first private cellar in Tavel during 1948 and Jean-Pierre Lafond, Valery Taulier's son-in-law, decided to create the present cellar in 1970. Fond of horses, he gave his Domaine the name of a famous horse (Roquepine). He just changed the spelling to give it a touch of Provence. Domaine Lafond Roc-Epine was born. The introduction of the excellent Chateauneuf du Pape in 2001 was a step in the right direction and this domaine keeps going from strength to strength.
