Barren Jack was the original name for the dam built in 1828 to bring water to the Riverina desert. This area now flourishes as one of Australia's premier grape growing regions. South East Australia
South Eastern Australia is a large zone that encompasses the Victoria, South Australia, New South Wales and Tasmania areas. Wines from the South East region can be made from anywhere within these states. This is a massive stretch of land with diverse growing conditions and ranges in quality.
The reds are generally produced from Shiraz, Grenache, Mourvedre and Cabernet grapes while the whites are made from Chardonnay, Riesling, Vioginer, Sauvignon Blanc and Semillon. This region also produces plenty of blends and unusual pairings.
