Barolo, Sacco

Often considered one of Italy's greatest wines, Barolo is definitely one of the most famous and a must try for it's classic tar and roses aromas. This Barolo from the Rocca estate is a classic, dry and austere, autumnal Nebbiolo from this famous Piemonte region. It will delight with its intense bouquet of mature red fruit and tobacco and the ethereal "Tar and Roses" of classic mature Barolo. It is at the lighter end of the Barolo spectrum and fully mature, so expect a more gamey style well suited to roast pheasant, aged beef and other fine meat courses.
Angelo Rocca
At the end of XIX century, Francesco Rocca started his historical business by selling loose wine. In 1936 his son Angelo enhanced the wine production and built a cellar in Nardò, Apulia. In the 1960's the first bottling line was bought and thus started the distribution of products under the Rocca brand. Today, Ernesto Rocca (the founder's grandson) shares responsibility with his sons Paolo, Marco, Luca and Matteo who help run the family business, a business which also includes a construction company and a leading trot horse stud farm.
