La Bastille Carignan - Merlot, 2018
La Bastille Rouge is a blend of Carignan and Merlot grapes and offers a fruity palate with a spicy finish. A good introduction to French reds it is well suited to red meat dishes but can be enjoyed on its own.

Vin de France
What used to be known as Vin de Table, or ‘table wine’ in France, is now called Vin de France, and designates French wine that is not labelled by appellation or region. In past decades, the reputation of these wines was not the best, in part due to rules that forbid the grape variety from being listed on the bottle. In response to growing competitiveness in the global market, the French wine authorities changed the rules and name of the classification, and saw demand for these wines start to rise. This was great news for consumers, as some real gems can be found from producers not limited by classification restrictions.
