Domaine des Raynieres Saumur Champigny Vielles Vignes, 2017
Domaine de Raynieres
The vineyard of 33 hectares consists essentially of a clay limestone soils. It is planted with chenin grapes for the white wines and Cabernet for the Reds (Saumur Champigny, red Saumur). The tufa (sub limestone) gives a characteristic wine of the region as it absorbs excess water in the winter to replenish during periods of drought. As a result the vines suffer little stress thus giving ample and supple wines.
