2016 Croizet Bages Pauillac Grand Cru Classe
Deeply rooted in the Pauillac hillside, the wines of Chateau Croizet-Bages are sun-drenched and generous. The merlot, harvested relatively early, brings roundness to the great wine to perfect the most delicate blends.
All the purity of crunchy and charming fruit lingers on candied cherry notes. A touch of petit verdot gives the wine all its colourful verve. The cabernet sauvignon, the true backbone of this great wine, brings an aromatic power and length that will reveal itself in the coming years. With notes of black fruit and cedarwood, the tannic structure combines lovely fatness and fullness with remarkable generosity.
Matured in French oak barrels for 12 to 14 months, the wines are delicate and velvety in texture. Rich, deep and elegant, Château Croizet-Bages will open up an aromatic palette of ripe plum with nuances of cocoa, spice and leather as it develops.
Chateau Croizet Bages
Chateau Croizet Bages, a great growth in the 1855 classification, takes its name from the Croizet brothers, who created the estate in the 17th century in the heart of the famous hamlet of Bages in Pauillac.
Monsieu Paul Quie clearly saw the potential of this great growth when he aquired it on 1942. He renovated the vineyard with enthusiasm and patience. His son Jean-Michel, and his children, still combine experience and modern winemaking today.
