| Flavours and aromas of white pepper, dark fruits, vanilla and truffles were coaxed from dryland Shiraz bushvines. To this was added just the right amount of Mourvedre to add subtle notes of blackberry and cinnamon. The result is a complex, well-balanced wine with an elegant tannin structure. Both the Shiraz and Mourvedre were aged for 14 months in small French and American oak barrels. |

Renowned wine maker Néwald Marais expresses his artistry in the subtle, playful layers of each wine.
A graduate of viticulture and pomology from Elsenburg Agricultural College and Weinbouschule Weinsberg, Newald has years of experience and an utter dedication to wine.
During a long tenure with then South Africa’s largest wine producer, Stellenbosch Farmer's Winery, Néwald served in the enviable position of head wine maker at Nederburg, a South African icon.
After the merger of Distillers and SFW, Néwald became head winemaker and consultant to the affiliated wineries.
In 2002 he moved back to the region of his birth, the beautiful Breede River Valley in order to plough his knowledge back into the local wine industry. |
