Established in 1743 Moet & Chandon is based in Epernay boasting 500 ha of vineyards. By the beginning of the 20th century, Moet & Chandon was one of the major houses, due to their excellent collection of vineyards. Moet and Chandon continued to grow and in the 1960s produced 10 million bottles a year (out of a global production of 70 million).
