| The existence of Pineau des Charentes can be traced back to the 16th century, when Charentais wine-makers discovered that, by adding a little cognac to their freshly pressed grapes, they obtained a unique and delicious drink which improved with age. It rapidly gained recognition outside of the Charente region and in 1935 Pineau des Charentes became an Appellation d'Origine Controllée. White Pineau displays some extremely fine floral aromas. It goes well with sauce, poultry, white meat or fish and a pineapple tart dessert. |
