The 1996 vintage has all the inimitable traits of Dom Pérignon Rosé. It has the lightheartedness, vivacity and vibrancy of the Pinot Noir grape while still maintaining the balance between the Chardonnay and Pinot Noir that is unique to the Dom Pérignon style. This play of contrasts reaches such a degree of density and sophistication that it achieves a sublime harmony.
On the nose. The aroma of malt rapidly leads into that of well-ripened fruit, nectarine and wild strawberries, complemented by smoky, peaty accents.
On the palate. In a paradox that typifies the vintage, concentration and movement vie each other with an affirmation of boldness and authority. The tastes progress with strength - tense, radiant and sharp. The finish is firm, underscored with a slightly vanilla-spicy note.
The 1996 harvest. The year was full of contrasts. The summer weather was capricious and the wet periods did not compensate for the early lack of rain. In the end, it was the periods of high heat in the months preceding the harvest (the start of which was spread from September 16 to October 1) that led to the exceptional maturity of the harvest, marked by a rare balance of power and acidity.

| Established in 1743 Moet & Chandon is based in Epernay boasting 500 ha of vineyards. By the beginning of the 20th century, Moet & Chandon was one of the major houses, due to their excellent collection of vineyards. Moet and Chandon continued to grow and in the 1960s produced 10 million bottles a year (out of a global production of 70 million). Moet & Chandon has grown to the point where it has the largest vineyard holdings in the Champagne business. |
